Summer Camp for Art, Science, Technology and Design

Every kid deserves a break after the long school year has come to an end, but that doesn’t mean they can’t enrich their minds and continue their educational journey throughout the summer months. In fact, the change of pace and newfound freedom of summer break can make it one of the best times for your child to take on new topics and learn to think outside the box.

At Sanidas Tutoring’s science and arts summer camp in New York, your child will have the opportunity to enjoy their summer break while still continuing to learn about a wide variety of topics, from core subjects like math and English to a range of more specialized courses, such as 3D printing, architecture, painting, virtual reality, and much more.

If you want something challenging and engaging for your child to tackle this summer, and if they want to explore topics of interest that their school curriculum doesn’t cover, our summer camp may be exactly what you’ve been looking for.

Our Science and Arts Summer Camp

This summer, the Sanidas Tutoring camp will follow the theme of technology and design. It offers an innovative and comprehensive approach to education, focusing on divergent thinking through creativity, productivity, and proficiency with technology. Students will explore engaging content through group lessons and team-building exercises.

Our arts and science summer camp includes theme-based weeks that cover topics in technology, design, engineering, science, and art. Our students will work alongside our specialized teachers to explore the themes and skills of some of the most important fields in the technology and design job market of the future.

Although our summer camp follows a technology and design theme, those topics are not the only ones being covered in this year’s camp sessions. Your child will also take on core academics every morning, tackling topics from grammar and vocabulary to memory expansion, IQ building, mathematics, localized history, and much more. There’s something for every curious kid.

A Fun and Engaging Educational Camp

There are plenty of arts and science camps in New York that do little more for your child than act as glorified babysitters. While there’s nothing wrong with getting yourself some free time and providing your child with a chance to have some fun, that’s generally not what parents are paying for when they send their child to an educational camp.

Sanidas Tutoring’s summer camp design allows your child to have plenty of fun while acquiring all kinds of new information, meeting new friends, experiencing new challenges, and continuing their education. No glorified babysitting, just a fun and engaging educational camp.

Avoid the Summer Slide

Did you know that children are at risk of losing a significant amount of the information they learn in school if they don’t keep reinforcing it over the course of their summer break? It’s called the “summer slide,” and it’s not just some myth shared between concerned parents.

Multiple studies have shown evidence of a summer break learning regression in young students.

But just how bad is that regression? It depends on the subject. When it comes to reading skills, kids can lose two full months of what they’ve previously learned over the course of the summer. When it comes to math skills, it’s even worse than that: kids can lose around two and a half months’ worth of progress over one summer.

Every summer that your child is not reinforcing what they’ve learned in their previous year of schooling, they may be falling further behind. Adding up those months from first to fifth grade, that’s 10 for reading skills and 12.5 for math skills. With 180 school days in every school year, that adds up to over a year and a half of schooling lost in reading and over two years in math.

If you want to avoid the summer slide for your child, one of the best things you can do is send them to a science and arts summer camp that not only reinforces what they’ve learned in the previous school year but challenges them to continue learning new things all summer long.

Get a Head Start on Next Year

Our Summer Head Start Program introduces students to some of the subjects they’ll be engaging within the school year to come.

Gradually introducing new aspects of the coming curriculum in a summer camp setting can help your child grasp the topics at their own speed; when September rolls around, they’ll be well ahead of the curve and set to excel. If they run into a subject they find particularly challenging, they’ll have extra time to work through the bumps in the road.

Different Themes Each Week to Keep Things Interesting

We offer two different sessions of our science and arts summer camp — one from June 29 to July 28 (excluding July 3 and 4), and the other between July 31 and August 25 — as well as an additional week at the very end of summer break. Over the course of the two sessions, campers will explore a new theme in each of their four weeks with us.

Some of the topics included in these themes are drones, robotics, product design, 3D printing, observational drawing, painting, and research through technology. The theme is explored daily in the afternoons. If there’s a topic your child isn’t interested in, don’t worry — the topics will continue to change as the days and weeks go by.

The Benefits of Arts and Science Summer Camp

We’ve highlighted many of the educational benefits of sending your child to an arts and science camp, but there’s a lot more to gain than just knowledge.

Making Friends and Socializing

If your child stays home throughout the summer, they won’t have much of a chance to socialize with kids their own age. At summer camp, they’ll meet other kids who have a shared interest in art and science. The friendships they form can last a lifetime.

Continuing to Grow

All of the learning your child will do at our summer camp technology and design program will certainly help them grow, but they can also grow a lot from having a brand-new experience with brand-new people. Overcoming such challenges will build their confidence.

Escaping the Screens

It’s almost inevitable that your child will get some extra screen time over the summer compared to while school is in session — and that’s okay. But if you want to try to keep them from becoming glued to their devices, one of the best ways to do it is to send them to a summer camp that offers plenty of healthy distractions.

Forming Lifelong Memories

Many adults who spent time at summer camp when they were young will tell you that they have many positive memories from the experience. Sending your child to a science and arts camp gives them an opportunity to make some great memories of their own.
